MINSK, December 18 (BelTA) – Belarusian Dzianis Khramiankov captured bronze in the men’s 125 kg freestyle wrestling category at the Individual World Cup in Belgrade, Serbia, BelTA has learned.
On his way to the podium, the Belarusian defeated Armenian Hovhannes Maghakyan 10-0 but lost to Russian Shamil Sharipov 2-13. In the fight for the bronze medal, Dzianis Khramiankov resolved the Ukrainian Aleksander Khotsianivski 6-5.
Three other Belarusian acrobatic wrestlers finished fifth. Vladislav Andreev (57kg) managed the draft but lost to Iranian Rahman Mousa Amouzadkhalili 0-4. Azamat Nurikau (74kg) lost to Fazli Eryilmaz of Turkey 2-7. Arkadi Pahanasian (92kg) lost to Swiss Samuel Scherrer 4-8.
Aleksandr Hushtyn (97kg) will face Olympic champion Abdulrashid Sadulaev of Russia for gold. Nyurgun Skryabin (65 kg) and Mahamedkhabib Kadzimahamedau (79 kg) keep their medal chances against the draft.
Earlier in the individual World Cup which takes place instead of the World Championships, gold medals were won by Kirill Maskevich in Greco-Roman wrestling and Iryna Kurachkina in women’s wrestling. The bronze medals were won by Maksim Kazharski, Soslan Daurov and Radik Kuliyev in Greco-Roman wrestling and Zalina Sidakova and Vasilisa Marzalyuk in women’s wrestling.
