Coral Shores junior Vincent Biondoletti recently won the Florida USA Junior Freestyle Free Championship and the Florida USA Greco-Roman State Championship. With the wins, Biondoletti qualified for the Southeast Regionals (nine states) last weekend in Jacksonville.
The championships also guarantee him an opportunity to represent Florida at the national tournament, to be held in July in Fargo, North Dakota.
In addition, Biondoletti has qualified for the Florida National Team duels, which will be held in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in June.
“It will be a busy summer; it looks like I’m going to travel a lot, ”said Biodoletti. “I’m just grateful for the opportunity. I had hoped to do the same last year but everything was put on hold with COVID. Winning a national championship has been my dream since I started wrestling at 7 years old.
“Vince trained really hard; he goes to Homestead several times a week ”,
said Joe Biodoletti, his father and head coach. “He trained with the Gladiators, the South Dade high school wrestling club. This group is pretty amazing. Keep in mind that South Dade High School has won 20 consecutive state championships in FHSAA wrestling.
Young Biondoletti continues the legacy of family wrestling. Joe Biondoletti was an FHSAA State Champion at 118 pounds in 1986 before accepting a scholarship to wrestle at Purdue University.
