Greco-Roman athletes receive draws for U17 World Championships in Rome

ROME, Italy — The Greco-Roman U17 World Team has received its draws for the 2022 U17 World Championships which begin on Monday, July 25.

The five Greco-Roman athletes making their World Championship debuts tomorrow are Christian Castillo at 48 kg, Nick Treaster at 55 kg, Joel Adams at 65 kg, Cole Han-Lindemayer at 80 kg and Koy Hopke at 110 kg.
Representing Team USA in Freestyle and Greco-Roman this week in Rome, Castle drew Ionut Mereuta from Romania who placed fifth at the 2022 European U17 Championships.
Treasurer will face winner Halil Cinar of Turkey, who placed third at the 2022 European U17 Championships, and Bekzhan Esenbek of Kyrgyzstan.
Adam attracted Takaku Suzuki from Japan, Han Lindemaer will face Taizo Yoshida of Japan and Hopke will face Maxim Ukraintsev of Kazakhstan. Their competitors currently do not have international references.
In competition on Tuesday July 25 are Davis Motyka at 45 kg, Elyle Francisco at 51 kg, Zan Fugit at 60 kg, Arvin Khosravy at 71 kg and Cody Merrill at 92 kg.
Motyka and Fugittboth finished in the final of the 2022 European U17 Championships. francisco will face Hungarian Peter Totok who placed seventh at the 2021 U17 World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
Khosravy attracted Austrian Marco Begle, who finished 22nd at the 2022 European U17 Championships. Merrill’s his opponent, Arsen Ruslanov of Kyrgyzstan, has no international credentials.
The Greco-Roman competition ends on Wednesday July 27. The women’s freestyle begins on Wednesday and the men’s freestyle on Friday, July 29. Follow USA Wrestling’s Twitter for live updates.
