Iran is the beach wrestling world champion

The Turkish Wrestling Federation was hosting the 2017 edition of the three-day sporting event which was held from October 13 to 15 in the resort town of Dalyan.

Iranian beach wrestling outfits in all eligible age groups won a total of six gold, six silver and two bronze to claim the world beach wrestling title.

Among the cadets, Reza Moghadasi (60kg) and Amirreza Sahraei (+ 70kg) won the gold trophies while Amirhossein Hadipour climbed to the second podium. In addition, a bronze medal was won by Amirhossein Esmaeili, who competed in the 70 kilogram weight group.

Iranian junior beach wrestlers Reza Shirazi (60kg) and Soheil Paraste (70kg) landed first. Hossein Abbaspour (70kg) and Mohammadreza Pakpour (80kg) finished second while Mostafa Nejati (+ 80kg) settled for bronze.

Additionally, Seyed Jafar Ghasemi (80kg) and Pouya Rahmani (+ 90kg) added two more gold medals to Iran’s medal tally this time in the senior age category. Always hungry for medals, the Iranian beach wrestling team won three bronze medals thanks to the superb performances of Mohammad Naderi, Omid Hosseintabar as well as Pejman Fazlollahtabar.

It was the second time Turkey hosted the event with Antalya as the host in 2006.
