Iranian acrobatic wrestler Sadegh Saeed Goudarzi won the silver medal in the men’s 74 kilograms category at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

The Iranian lost 3-0 to gold medalist Jordan Ernest Burroughs of the United States in the category final at the Excel Center in London on Friday.

Goudarzi dominated Bulgarian Kiril Stoychev Terziev 3-1 in his opener before beating Soslan Tigiev of Uzbekistan 3-1 in the quarter-finals. He beat Hungarian Gabor Hatos 3-0 in the semifinals.

Iran now sits 14th in gold at the London 2012 Olympics and is tied for 18th in the overall medal standings with a tally of four gold, five silver and one medal bronze.

Iranian taekwondo athlete Mohammad Bagheri Motamed won silver in the men’s -68 kg category on Thursday night.

On Tuesday, Ehsan Haddadi won Iran’s first-ever Olympic medal in track and field by taking silver in the men’s discus throw.

On the same day, Iranian super-heavyweight Behdad Salimi won the gold medal and compatriot Sajjad Anoushiravani pocketed silver in the +105 kilograms category of the weightlifting competition.

Iranian Greco-Roman wrestler Ghasem Rezaei defeated Russian Rustam Totrov on August 7 to win the gold medal in the 96 kg category.

Iranian Greco-Roman wrestler Omid Haji Norouzi defeated Georgian Revaz Lashkhi in the men’s 60kg final match at the Excel Center on August 6 to win the gold medal.

Iranian Navvab Nasirshelal won a silver medal in the men’s 105 kilogram weightlifting category on August 6.

On August 5, the five-time Iranian world champion Hamid Sourian won the country’s first gold medal in Greco-Roman wrestling in 40 years.

He beat Azerbaijani Rovshan Bayramov 2-0 and 1-0 in the 55 kg final of the men’s Greco-Roman wrestling event.

And Iranian weightlifter Kianoush Rostami won a bronze medal in the 85kg category on August 3.
