Prayagraj: Talented North Central Railway (NCR) wrestler Ravi clinched the top position in the 97kg Greco-Roman style weight class at the recently held Indian Level Trials for the Senior Asian Wrestling Championship which takes place will be held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, starting in April. 19-24, 2022. According to NCR Public Relations Manager, Dr. Shivam Sharma, Trials for Male Wrestlers was held at KD Jadhav Indoor Wrestling Stadium, New Delhi on March 24. In the practice final, Ravi beat Hardeep of Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) by 7 to 3 to claim the top position. Earlier, in the semi-finals, he beat Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) wrestler Deepanshu by 5-2 points, Sharma said.
A total of 11 top wrestlers each qualified in the Men’s Freestyle and Greco-Roman categories for the Continental Wrestling Championship.
Ravi, working in the commercial department of the Agra division of NCR, won the 2nd position at the senior national championships-2021 and participated in the qualification tournament of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics held in Kazakhstan. He also competed in the 2021 Senior World Championship.
President and gen sec, NCR Sports Association, Sharad Mehta and Nitin Garg congratulated Ravi on his achievement.
