More than 30 countries will be represented at the third stop of the United World Wrestling Beach Wrestling World Series in Odessa, Ukraine.
The action in the Black Sea town will begin tomorrow at Stantsiia Velykoho Fontanu beach with two days of senior competition scheduled in the men’s and women’s divisions.
On Sunday August 11, young athletes will take center stage, with Odessa hosting the World Beach Wrestling Championships for Cadets and Juniors.
The All-Ukrainian Beach Wrestling Federation is organizing the event with the Odessa stage of the World Series after competitions in Chaves, Portugal and at the Olympic Park in Rio de Janeiro.
Women will compete at 50 kg, 60 kg, 70 kg and over 70 kg and men will compete at 70 kg, 80 kg, 90 kg and over 90 kg.
A pool format will be used to determine which wrestlers will advance to wrestling for gold and bronze.
After the stage in Odessa, the Series Final will take place in Zagreb, Croatia from September 6 to 9.
The wrestling on the beach will also take place at the first World Beach Games of the Association of National Olympic Committees in Qatar in October.
The World Series events in Chaves and Rio de Janeiro were used as qualifications for the Games.
