Padma Shri Award winning wrestler Virender singh visited Chief Minister of Haryana Manohar Lal Khattar on Friday. CM congratulated the grappler for receiving the Padma Shri award. Virender received the prestigious award from President Ram Nath Kovind on Tuesday.
Earlier, hard of hearing and hearing impaired wrestler Virender Singh staged a protest in front of Haryana Bhawan on Wednesday. He did this to bring to the attention of Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar, an injustice he has faced for several years. Virender wants to be recognized and provided with the same facilities as para-athletes.
The grappler took to social media to ask for help from the Haryana government.
“Sir, I am sitting on the sidewalk of your Delhi Haryana Bhawan residence and I will not move from here until you give equal rights to deaf players like para players, while the Center gives us equal rights, So why not you?” Virender Singh wrote.
Virender, a day after receiving the Padma Shri Award, expressed his anguish. He shared his condition and urged the Haryana CM to help him achieve equal rights as a para-athlete.
“Chief Minister, if you think of me as a para-player, then why don’t you give equal rights to para-athletes. I have been going door to door for four years for justice. I am still a junior coach and I did not receive the same cash reward yesterday I told the Prime Minister about it. Now the decision is yours, ”wrote Virender.
Virender Singh’s brother sets out wrestler’s torments
Virender Singh has demanded that the Haryana government provide him with government incentives and jobs for deaf athletes. He wants it to be the same as para-athletes.
Virender’s brother Rambir said the wrestler has been knocking on doors for several years seeking justice. Earlier, the government of Haryana announced an incentive of INR 6 crore as well as a good government job for the wrestler. Unfortunately, none of the promises were kept.
“He has been visiting Haryana ministers for years, for government incentives and jobs for deaf athletes, as well as para-athletes. In 2017, the state government announced an incentive of Rs 6 Cr for him, which he has not yet received. A grade job has been advertised, has not been obtained He has a grade C job, “said Virender’s brother Rambir.
Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar to address Virender Singh case
CM Manohar Lal Khattar said he would call a meeting of the committee to thoroughly examine the Virender case.
“I met the Chief Minister today, he first honored me to have obtained the Padma Shri, and he said that a committee would be formed very soon for what is wrong with you, and you will get justice, thank you very much chief minister, and to all the friends who have supported me! ” Virender Singh tweeted in Hindi.
